Paul Bessler is a 32-year member of the PGA of America. He is a native of Batesville, Indiana. He graduated from Ball State University in 1969 with a Bachelors degree and received his Masters degree in 1970.
Paul served as Assistant Golf Professional at Green Hills Country Club, Muncie, Indiana, and at The Golf Club of Indiana, Lebanon, Indiana before taking his first head professional position at Forest Hill Country Club in Richmond, Indiana.
He then continued his head professional career at Owensboro Country Club, Owensboro, Kentucky, Hillcrest Golf and Country Club, Batesville, Indiana and Grand Oak Golf Club, West Harrison, Indiana. Paul was also co-owner of Grand Oak Golf Club.
Paul has received several honors during his successful golf career. He was selected to the Ball State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1980. In 1993 he was chosen as the national “Club Maker of The Year” by the Professional Clubmaker’s Society. The Indiana PGA selected him as their “Golf Professional of the Year” in 1995 and in 2000 they honored him with “PGA Teacher of the Year”. Golf Digest and Golf Magazine have both recognized Paul as “One of America’s Top Teachers”.
Paul is an accomplished player. He was captain of the Ball State University golf team in 1969. He played in 2 NCAA Championships, won the 1981 Casa de Campo International Pro-Am, was a member of both the 1977 & 1978 Indiana Challenge Cup Teams and the 1980 & 1981 Kentucky Challenge Cup Teams, and was runner-up in 3 Kentucky PGA Section Championships. He qualified for 2 Senior PGA Club Professional Championships and 10 PGA Club Professional Championships.
Paul has served as speaker and instructor at several PGA & PCS educational events. He also served as Education Chairman for the Indiana PGA and served on their Board of Directors.
